Taste the Best of English Wine on June 17th
Be Surprised, Be Very Surprised…
At the Quality of These English Still and Sparkling Wines
A Pinot Noir from Essex will be one of the highlights of our English Wine Dinner in The Crypt on Tuesday 17 June, together with magnums of a very highly rated Chardonnay from Kent and another Pinot Noir from Norfolk. All are vibrant proof that England can now produce great still wines alongside the sparkling wines for which it has long been noted.
To celebrate English Wine Month, we shall taste six different wines from four English counties – three still, three sparkling – guided by the Master of Wine Richard Bampfield, widely regarded as an expert in the field of English wines and the curator of the Magnum Club selection.
The evening will begin with magnums of Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs 2019 as our aperitif in the Crypt Cloister Garden, before we move downstairs to The Crypt for a five-course dinner, each course accompanied by a perfectly chosen English wine. Our chef Andy has even managed to source a guinea fowl born and bred on the Suffolk–Essex border.
This is a rare chance to taste some of England’s winemaking at its best – all for just £150.00 per head, fully inclusive.
